they rode whatever stand-ups (or x-2s) were available at the time.

Scary!.......I started riding when Larry Rippenkroger won the title in 1982! As I remember, the cool tricks then were tailstand/spins, riding backwards, headstands and 360s.......and Mariner aftermarket ruled! (remember bronze impellers and steel Mariner pipes??)

I bet back then they rode 550's more than 650sx because a 550 is lighter. Is their anyone on this sight that use to compete in freestlye/racing in the 90's and 80's.

Yep. I competed in Amateur Freestyle from 91-99, then again in 2003. Raced from 91-96. I know there's several others who competed/raced back then. RMBC Freeride, RonnyMac, Conzi_dv8, to name a few.

There were a lot of 440-550's, Squarenoses and 750SX's used in Freestyle back then. The 440's and 550's were pretty much phased out by 94 or 95.

I'm out of town now, but on Monday, I'll see if I can dig up some old pics.
