Custom/Hybrid FP1 - New freestyle ski

Well I thought i would post some pics of my new ski. I call it the FP1.. (stands for freestyle pete's first ski)

I have spent the last year working on the design as i wanted an 08 superjet style ski that was a little shorter and had front rocker on the nose but unlike most ski's i wanted the front rail to be still there.

The tray is wider than a rickter and unlike a rickter it is all the way to the front of the tray and not stepped. The side walls are thinner like and SXR and the ski is a little wider down the rail and also a bit lower over all.

The ski is shorter in the nose by 100 mm , it runs the 08 set back shaft , I have modified the intake and made several more changes. then engine can be set back as it runs the RRP engine plates... ( why change what is a good bit of gear )

Any stock hood will fit or i will be makeing the one like in the picture, I have added side supports on the hood seal to help with wamilton, blowsion and the rest of the hoods out there to stop popping side ways. my hood will come with an internal lip.

The price for the ski is at this stage $4750 AUS dollars ( no hood) i am yet to manufacture the hood as it is the actual plug that is on the ski. If you love your superjet but want the benifit of a wide tray and a lifted nose then this will be to your liking.

The finish is 100 % gel coat and is made from quad matt glass ( my secret lay up) vacum infused. ... carbon is for show ponies and the gel coat is like buying a new superjet .....if it scratches just sand and buff... i am also trying an additive to the underside to help not wear out up and down the beach so will see how it goes.

More pics and a spec sheet will be up on my webstite which will be getting a face lift www.freestylepete.com or you can contact me at www.facebook.com/freestylepete or email at www.freestyle.pete@hotmail.com

I will be at Havsu next week to hang out and will hopefully be at next years Blowsion surf slam and will bring a boat to the US next year .... at this stage it is a surf boat ....next boats i will try a shorter bottom at the rear and see how it goes on the flat .

And its 100 % aussie made ....we are coming for ya LOL

cheers

nice hull, someone in Ausie needed to make them. Wont be feasible for us US guys to buy them though. Quite expensive, but I guess stuff just cost more down under dont they?

Looks good since its black ever thought of using tooling gelcoat on the bottom, very tough compared to standard gelcoats.

Yeah but we found an addative they place between the gel coat and the glass, they use it in race car industry for front splitters so they dont tear up the carbon when it wears through the clear ....dont worry i will be running it up the beach flat out .

As for price how much is a rickter or lenzi hull or any outher hull and if your dollar ever bounces back it will look attractive.

I believe the finish is as good as a rickter so how much do they sell for :) maybe i should put heaps of stickers on and ask more it LOL the bench mark in AM hulls is the rickter, and that is what i want mine to come out like...labour is cheap in Asia so i cant compete, if i make enough then sure i can ship to the US to a dealer and the price would be that in the states ... time will tell.....small baby steps first. But the proof is in the ridding and my aim is to get one or two ski's over there just so you guys can ride anouther hull that come from down under :)

comments good and bad are welcome .. anyone who meets me knows i can take it :) and everyone is entitled to there opinion, I will try get some decent pics of the rear and pump when the weather is better.

I had sketched this up nearly 18 months ago and then i saw the kong hull and was like wow.... they make a great ski, i dont want anyone to think i just copied it but my closest friends knew about this for nearly two years. Just in case anyone calls it a copy ( either way all hulls are starting to look somewhat the same )

That is one of the best looking of the "new hulls" I have seen yet.

Thanks Mate....everyone who was involved especially my mates noel and ryan where a big help , we started obviously with a blank 08 top and went to town... if you sit them on the side next to a superjet although they look the same every where is just a little different ... well outside just a copy but my main goal was to make it look close to a superjet which in my eyes was the ski that started freeride ... well at least for me. Anyone who saw my carbon 08 in 09 at the blowsion surf slam will know what i expect in the way of a good ski... i just wish i could bring one over on the plane next week with me ....

Here is a video of the speed test we did with the ski. i wanted it handle like a race ski so you could do bottom turns on waves and carve and i think it handle pretty good for a freestyle ski.... will get pics and video of in the surf ....this is my mate in the pic he has only been on the ski for 10 seconds....no shoes so no rolls.....ski is just a ported 760 ... i will try and get a trim and see if we can flip it with the 760 in it ... please note i built this for the surf but Jon is confident he will be able to flip flatwater and ride it in the surf :)

Here are some shots of the ski in action with some small 2 foot waves... the guy rideing it is Cayle who rides for sea world ... this was his first time ....his verdict was that it was cool.. so i am very happy I still neeed to try ride flat and pump combos and also trim the nose a little as it has a pre 08 nozzle so need to get a new nozzle which will make it better
