EDIT: was advised to just run 38's on oem manifold and upgrade to 46's if I want to use my fancy shmancy manifold.

I'm not sure if this exists, but id really like to run my billet PHP manifold and vf3 reeds, but local buddies are telling me not to run dual oem 44's on an unported 701 and to stick with dual 38's...

Is anyone running dual 38s on an aftermarket manifold
Or
Dual 44s w a/m manifold on a unported 701 with bolt ons (msd/Jetinetics/bpipe/ada head)

I ran 44s on an unported 701 and it ran great. It doesn't make any sense to run oem 38s on that manifold that is designed for 46s and up carbs. Why wouldn't you run the oem 38 manifold instead?

Basically because Ive already spent the money on the manifold and vf3 reeds assuming id build a bigger motor...i decided to run a 62T i had on the shelf while I debate if i actually need more motor.

If I were you I'd just get some 46s abd run those in your 62t engine. Do it once. The 46s will work fine on even a stock cylinder with a little tuning. They'll also work well up to 1000ccs for a freeride engine. For freestyle you'll want more carb.

Blackjack 44's work well also up to 850cc!!!!!!!!

So, should I not bother with the OEM 44's on the PHP/VF3 setup? I still have a stock intake and 38's I can run... I'd prefer not to spend $1000 on blackjacks or dual 46's right now, and I also need to assemble the complete ski this coming weekend to have it ready for Pismo on the 23rd...

dude run the 38's and save the php/vf3 for big motor. If you had to purchase something than id say do it one the right way but if you got some good 38's ready to go then run them!

Either run the dual 38 setup complete or run the dual 46/php setup.
Both will work fine on a stock 701 if jetted and setup.
No frankenstein nonsense, will end in tears.

38's seems to be the consensus among the people I will actually ride with who will then have every right to roast me if I don't listen and end up struggling with tuning the 44's lol

I already have all the correct b-pipe jetting for the 38's anyway.

38s are awesome compared to bigger carbs that are tuned badly

I started to post "Here comes Wax to disagree in 3.2.1...." LOL. The right person can get them set up good, not always the case for the average guy!!!! not just plug and play.

I’m that predictable, huh. These are another thing that copped a bad name — same story as what I said in the electrical post. The 760 carbs are actually easy to set up, but of course, you can’t sell new carbs if people just use these. They’re not as good as a 46, I get that, but they’re also nowhere near as expensive either.

And let’s be real — it makes more sense to have people buy what you’re selling than to show them how to make what they already have work. That’s half the reason these things got talked down in the first place.

I got no dawg in the selling carbs game!!!!!!!!!! I personally like my 44 Blackjacks, They work great on my DASA 820! These the only new Carbs I have ever bought! Well, Bought a Single 44 once when I went to the single conversion once.............

Yes for the oem carbs jsut run the 64x manifold

I ran some oem 44s on my stock 62t before I had it ported and bored over. The key with the stock 760 manifold is filling the crossover. This really helps with tuning especially on the low end. The other thing with the oem carbs is the low speed adjusters. The thread pitch is very fine compared to the aftermarket 44s/46s. They ran fine for me. Im running a 64x manifold with the crossover tube filled and I think boyesen reeds.

I ran oem 44s on a 5mil stroker with epoxied crossover and vf3s and it worked absolutely amazingly.
