how do you adjust the rev limiter. the instructions says to turn the shaft and keep turning until it stops if you want it to have the highest rev limiter. i thought you screw that little screw but it just keeps turning and there is a c-clip on it i noticed. so what is it that i turn?

you turn the end of the shaft w/ a small flat screwdriver clockwise for the highest RPM limit. make sure to loosen the nut before adjusting then tighten it when youre done.

if your pot has no detent position its broke but isnt necessarily bad. youll just have to turn it according to the rpms of the engine.

i dont recall a circlip.

i just started her and she is reving out super super fast

the rev limiter does not control your idle.

only the upper RPM limit.

loosten the lock nut, turn the small flat head crew all teh way to the right.

retighten then lock nut (s)

good to go.

there is no all the way, that is the problem. i know it deals with the high rpms, thats why i said she is not reving out, there is a low rev limiter

the little screw stops when you hit the limit.

i know what thing you are talking about, and i turned it. it was loose the entire time, just kept turning. out of everything i HATE messing with the electrical box, its a pain in the ass and today i did it for no reason because im gunna have to do it again next week when i get my new one.

oh ok....

that sucks.

maybe you can run it and turn as you go to hit the rpm range you can live with until the replacement comes?

sorry dude, part failure sucks azss

im afraid to do that cause it might ruin something else.... yea it does suck, expecially since i decided to spend an extra 100 bucks on a new so i would NOT have to deal with this crap for a little while. i know its not blowsions fault, but i am pretty pissed at them, they did not even send me a recipt! what kind of business is that?

there is one for $150 or $160 on oneof the BBS boards.'

I gave $50 or less for the enhancers I am running, when they die, I will hand build one, or remove the limiter from a stock cdi.

too much money for what you get from MSD. ( if not cheaply bought)

If the rev limit potentiometer is physically broken but the CDI still fires and the engine runs, I would not worry about doing any more damage. If the circuit works then I would run it for the weekend if it runs well enough to ride. Ride it like you stole it and send that sucka back for warranty later..

i cannot ride with a low rev limiter, ill just throw my protec modded stock cdi back in there. blowsion better not make me pay for shipping. if they really wanted to score some points with me they would next day air it and get it to me thursday (leave friday morning) . shouldnt cost to much, we are both on the west coast.

Not to threadjack or anything, but how much of a differece is there between running a protec modded cdi vs an msd enhancer on a stock sj w/bpipe? Trying to figure out which route I want to go next!!!!!!!!!!!!!
