To all the newbs.....

USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION!!!!!

Top of the screen in the toolbar, two words from the left of the log out icon, SEARCH!!!

Guess what newb, this site has been around a while. The following questions have been answerd before.

1. What is the best helmet?
2. How do I install footholds?
3. How can I tell if my foam is wet?
4. How much does my superjet weigh?
5. How do I install footstraps?
6. What ski should I buy?
7. Should I reinforce with carbon of fiberglass?

Sorry for the rant, but If I read another thread with one of the above titles I'm gonna virtually strangle someone. Everytime I read one of these threads I have to stay off the site for a couple days to keep from hurting someone. :lightning:

Easy now bud. We were all newbs at one time or another. If you don't like those threads just don't click on them.

I understand where you are coming from though. People don't use the search function enough. It's not just newbs that do that though.

eh let them ask that stuff. they have been asked a bunch and answered a bunch but they are also super easy to answer. so when a slightly less new guy sees it it gives him the chance to shoot out an answer for once and give back.

Also, there are tons of way of doing things, and stuff changes, so what may have been the answer last year may have changed, or someone may have a different/better idea.

EXACTLY what I was thinking - some "newb" may bring an idea in and revolutionize the way a procedure was previously 'always done'. You don't want to suppress good thinking.

I guess what your saying is if we are new on X-H20 we must be new to all bulletin boards, forums, etc... I guess what I'm getting at is How do you attract new people to the sport and to these boards with New ideas if you flame them right from the start?

Anyways... just saying hi to everyone hope to see you around...

LBE is a minority here, infact I don't know that I have run across any chumps telling noobs to use the search button. ask what ever the junk you want. if you don't want to search in hopes of getting an answer quicker thats fine by -most- of us.

I'm a member of a couple other boards (not watercraft related), and I always use search before asking a question. If I can't find the answer specifically then I will post a thread. I realize that sometimes people have new ideas or methods of dooing things, but I have seen two threads on one page with almost the exact same question and it drives me nuts!
In addition, subjective questions (which is best) just seem to turn into an arguement. Pros and cons of a comparable item is fine, but it usually goes off track and turns into a pissing contest.
I realize the board is here for information, and it is full of good stuff, and we're glad to have new members, but, sometimes a little reserch before asking a question will get you the info you are looking for.

I'll support LBE here. It was one of my peevs on SBTToday. Everyday there would be new threads formed of discussions talked about last week. I think its just the way some people are. I am VERY organized person, to the point I would almost consider myself obsessive about organization! So to me, extra threads on the same topic are unecessary and "messy." Even if a thread on the same topic is old, you can always post to it and it brings it right back to the top. Or, at least reference it, so people know you did your homework first (brings me to my other peev - laziness).

<end rant>

Welcome...glad to have you here. Just ignore the rants; think of it as fraternity hazings. Not all of us fall into that category

I've been on the map for a while and my ski still does not have foot holds or straps on it. . . Maybe they'll come this winter.
