footholds for short guys..

Thats right, yet another foothold thread...

I'm 5-5..when I rode a round nose with foot holds last year I found I was uncomfortably streched out. I couldn't sub or anything from the footholds, but could if I stood near to the middle of the tray.

So I'm thinking on the FX1 I may put footholds a few inches forward from the usual spot. Of course the FX is shorter so this is less of a problem. Does this make sense? Any advice on how to determine the best location?

Also, What type would be best? Obviously nothing designed to cut all the way to the end of the rail.. Oh, also I think I'd like foothoholds that protrude relatively minimally into the tray. 24-7? Wamiltons lenzi's?

I have the 24/7 holds in my SuperJet, I know you tried those at FSF last fall. I actually installed mine slightly forward in the tray, but any further forward I would have had more clearance issues with the exhaust.

I am sure they could be moved even further forward, but it would have involved a little more modification. I know you could make it work.

Thanks. I hadn't even thought about the exhaust, I guess I'll have to make a small hole and hunt for it.
Nathan, I'm sure we talked about the placement back then - quite likely my trouble was more so from the larger ski than the footholds.

Yeah, I am short myself, so I installed mine farther forward where they are perfect, and I almost didnt clear the exhaust tube, so careful how far you go. You can dig up pictures of our thread to see some pictures, I believe they are on page two.

same here went a couple of inches forward and uh oh are those gonna clear? but they did.. you could always run a side exhaust and then dual scuppers?

hmm....im 5'5 +/- and i have my kickers installed normal. i had plenty of room? now i have a -3" pole :biggrin:

i guess it comes down to preference. isn't it the more forward you are, you get a more aggresive riding and help for the barrel roll?
