Super Jet foothold install...5200 AND epoxy/glass. ?

Question. If one was to install footholds, using 5200...rivet or screws as necessary to lock them down. Would epoxy (west systems, Mas etc) and say...1208 biax...around the edges work well?
For some reason I can remember reading, that epoxy doesn't bind well over 5200???
Thoughts.
I am experienced in epoxy and polyester layups on my ski repairs, and building RC Boats from molds etc. and this is my first foothold install..but have NEVER used 5200. I know some of you guys swear it is the toughest stuff on the planet.

I would use thickened epoxy for sealing/gluing it down and then glass + epoxy for the rest. I would not mess around with 5200 or any other silicone based sealant.

Thanks, That is what I was worried about....any silicone based product makes bonding of epoxy and or paint, very tough.

Either work. Basically they are really only needed while the thickened epoxy sets up. The goal is to get the footholds mate to the deck as flat as possible. After you put the layers of cloth over the seams, everything should be really solid.

The foot holds that I have seen installed with 5200 have all leaked eventually. Stick with epoxy

I'm with the angry epoxy mob on this, only use polyuerathane adhesive for two parts that have to flex separately . The foot holds have to be as one with the tray and gunnels . Aaaarrrhh now lets epoxy something .

Consensus....Epoxy and Not 5200.
I cut into the gunwales last night, and all was bone dry. A tad, bit of foam was deteriorated, maybe a half inch seam, by about a foot long Right along the pump cavity where the intake/rideplate bolts are. I am assuming silicone was never applied to these bolts. It is not wet, but damp....Worth defoaming?
The rest of the ski is dry...as far as I can poke my fingers in.

Since leaving the foothold cutouts open, and not installing the footholds, what was wet last night...is already dry. I think it was being held in by those bolts in the pump cavity.

This weekend, spoxy and screws/rivets for the hard to lign up parts. The rear of the footholds don't match exactly to my squarnose tray...but I will make them work.
