Foothold idea

So I've been debating this after every ride when I come home with chaffed and bruised ankles. Do you guys think I would lose a lot of grip if I chopped the back end of the tray side rails off? Since I have the REV footholds with enclosures, this would basically make it act like an oversized foot strap built into the side rails.

I always bashed my heels to the point that mondays were "not too much walking" days.
Nick (Yamaslut) cut his tray wider and says that it's much better now.

cutting the rear is the only way I would EVER install rev footholds. I hate the way they feel the way you (and most others) have installed them.

get to cutting!

That was my biggest gripe with them revs, so I made them feel good to my feet. Fully padded as well, and wide tray.

How about the top of your feet ?
I have permanent bumps on mine from the REVs, just ran out of space for padding up top.
I padded the top as well, but scalloped out the pad under where my toes go. If you look close at the bottom, you can see there the 8mm is tapered.

ride around and watch that back corner.. water rushes around when your not up on plane, i dont think it would be wise b/c the water would be trying to grab your foot and pull your foot out.

Thanks for the responses. I definately have the bumps on the top of my feet as well from the REV's. There was only so much padding that I could put in there and I wanted 2 layers on the bottom and 1 on top instead of the other way around. The holds look so smooth but once you put your foot in there, there's very much a sharp angle.

I didn't think about the water pulling my feet off but I'll definately look into that next time I'm out.

my rev s are starting to hurt my feet also. funny thing though, my feet didnt start hurting till this last weekend and i ride almost every day even if its its just for a little while. my feet are extremely tender right now

Hi-I installed Blowsion Klowner footholds back in January. I'm not an expert rider nor can I backflip but once I installed these I was able to ride a lot better. They are very large holds which means a lot of padding. I have 1" thick padding on the bottom and several layers of the thinner (I think 5mm thick) padding along the top of the hold.

These footholds extend very far forward into the tray which allows for a wider stance. If I had this to do over again I would cut the holds and extend them farther forward.
