Came loose after 3 seasons, no idea why.
Don't think I can still use it.
Maybe I'll put a lightened stocker, somebody has one for sale.
Performed very well but very expensive to buy a second one.
Some ideas? I'm very sad.

Did it beat up the key or the key slut ont he flywheel? The tapered area on the inside of the flywheel looks fine from the pics.
Wanna sell it? I'd prolly run that sucka

Something doesn't seem right. The anodizing on the taper isn't worn? Usually it will destroy the taper on the inside before it contacts anything.

A 3mm ring on the inside of the hub is worn.
I know something is not right, even the bolt of the flywheel
wasn't loose.

No damage on the key or the key slut.

So it was still tight on the crank? No wiggle?

I didn't really check but there must have been wiggle that caused the damage.
I think, but I'm not 100% sure, that the bolt wasn't loose. 3 years ago I putted loctite on it. Very hard to tell if the bolt was still tight because I used compressed air to loosen the bolt. I think the bolt came out 3mm and stayed there or the bolt was never tight enough.
I really don't know.

I 'm thinking that some type of debris got stuck onto the magnet or possibly the stator is moving some how. How did you notice it?

Everything is fine with the stator. No damage at all.
I noticed it a couple of weeks ago when I pushed the start button, sometimes the starter spins but the engine didn't turned over. I rode that way a couple of weeks. I tought it was the bendix and I ordered a new one. Tonight I opened the cover to put in the new bendix and found this.

If the stator is fine what wore the groove in the flywheel? Make sure there is no debris floating around. And how did the key/key way look?

The stator plate must have wore the groove in the flywheel but I checked the plate and didn't notice any damage. The key looked fine and no damage on the key way.
I know, it's a strange story but that's how it is.
Didn't found any debris, only the aluminium dust coming from the flywheel.
Should you still use it that way?

As long as it rotates without hitting anything ,stays tight on the crankshaft and produces current ,run it.The one I have has weak magnets and won't produce any spark.

And what about the damage on the ring gear as you can see in the pics?
Nothing major but damaged.

A friend of mine gave me a tip: maybe the flywheel bolt is to long and the flywheel was never tight enough, that should explain why the bolt wasn't loose.

If it actually had come loose the key would have sheared instantly, the flywheel taper is what holds it on,the key only positions it while you tighten it down.

What brand was that? Call the manufacturer and send them the picts. I would worry about having a balance issue if you reused it as is. Possible get it balanced???

I had a radz come loose on a 440 and it never sheared the key....but it did cause a overheating of the crank and completely chewed the ******** out of the taper. Some dumb 6ss didn't tighten it enough :banghead: and only used a lock washer. Lesson learned.....

It's a RAD charging flywheel and I bought it brandnew.
No possibility over here to let it balanced.
