Custom/Hybrid Flat deck a seadoo SP???

i have a 91 seadoo SP hull. Blew up the motor a couple years ago. Went to a SN SJ. Well now i have the SJ's motor not in use and i want to put it into the Seadoo SP. But what fun is it running stock hulls??? What do other people think about me flat decking the sp? I am thinking i may have to move the motor towards the front of the hull. Any suggestions as to fiberglassing in motor mounts??? I am going to have to run a longer drive shaft. I am thinking about making it a flat water freestyle. I was also thinking about chopping the top and lowering the handle bars as well.

untitled.png want to go from this....

images.jpg to something like this... It seems like it could be possible... i kinda want to make it a cheap build... deffinently NOT something that will get finished this winter... Any thoughts???

cause i cannot sell the frickin hull, and i figured it would be a project to work on, on the days it is too crappy to be on the lake. The deck would be big huge too, lol... i figured why not and if it doesnt work, i really wont be out that much...

I'm not crapping on your idea in any way...cuz ill take on a project just for the sake of doing something if I'm bored. However, I doubt you could make that into any kind of freestyle apparatus. I would be more inclined to get another seadoo powerplant and hop it up into a beast of a ski. Kinda like a sleeper. Parts and engines are relatively easy to come by for those...Or grab a bone stock engine from SBT and sell it all cleaned up and fresh come spring for a tad more than what u have in it. Engine swap would b quick and consume very little time/effort. On the flipside, if ur feeling jumpy and just wanna tackle that project I'm behind you. Go for it and take lots of pics. We'll see what you produce.

I would say you will end up with a deck boat with a 701 in it... If you have the spare time and $, go for it...

yeah, i am just not sure if i could even get my money back out of that thing. I have to buy a whole new brain for that thing. (was parting it out summer or 2011) sold the carb too... i still have the lower end and cases for two ski's, both the 587 i think... i wonder if they could give me a bit more off if i give them two cores for a new motor, lol. Fried the cranks on both.

I took a look at the ski... and if i flat decked it, and left it at length, it would be large enough to cruise around the lake with a grill on the back of it too, lol. or a flat deck for someone REALLY uncoordinated, lol... yeah i think i may scrap the flat deck idea... but one day i would like to build a flat deck, fixed steer just to see what they are all about... i may just take this lil SP and put new electronics and a new motor, spruce up the interior of it a bit.... any reccomendations on motor choice??? i was thinking about just going up to the 657... tyhink it may be the same which will make the rebuild a little easier...

i guess i got to take a look at what i got to work with to see what direction i want to go... i could just get a new crank, then get bigger jugs and bigger pistons... and it will be a bit bigger than the stock 587... not a project that i am going to start soon either... and will deffinently be a budget build.

Cut the top deck off the Sea-Doo and throw your grill and cooler inside the hull. Grab your superjet and tow the Sea-Doo/gear hauler to the sandbar. Setup home base. Go ski for a few hours, stop at home base for some food, fuel and beverage, repeat.

Not saying that it isn't possible but it would be a waste of your time and money because it will never perform how you would want it to. To flat deck the SP would require moving the engine so far forward that it will be nearly impossible to fit due to the steering and tightness of the space under the dash, I don't think the exhaust would fit either. I have an XP of the same style and although the motor is a little bigger I know that there is not much room in there. Also moving the motor so far forward will cause this ski to ride very nose heavy and would never ride right.

I believe most of the Yami's being flat decked are only possible because their motors is usually right under the steering instead of in the middle of the seat like the Doo's.

As already suggested I would just rebuild it and or make it a little Hot Rod because I believe that even though it is a SP, I still believe that it is still the X4 platform which is still one of the most desirable hull designs for the SeaDoo. Parts are cheap and very plentiful and I think you would have more fun running buoys in this thing then you would trying to freestyle a 500lbs ski. Just my opinion though.

Once you flat deck it you should have enough room to throw a sofa, coffee table and tv on there and cruse around the lake. Make it a true freestyle couch. Lol I say if you have the time and money go for it.

You could flat deck a Yamaha VXR the engine is in the front and your 701 will drop right in . A yamaha 3d. Your welcome to the one in my driveway.
