it's from coming down on that side of the ski. make sure your doing some good prep work and using a some good fiberglass and not some stuff you get at home depot. Go to www.UScomposites.com and go under fiberglass and specialty fabrics and order up some knytex either 12 or 17oz and that will do the trick. You have to use epoxy resin, anybody here will tell you to use west sytem brand epoxy resin or a vinyl ester resin when your glass. Polyester resin wont stick to the hull on any ski unless it's made of polyester resin. The top deck on that year and earlier superjets is basically a glorified plastic and break real easy, your due for a re-foam next winter becuase water will leak through there at the crack into the foam and while the foam is out you can re-enforce from the inside.

Alright just got done talking to my bro and i wanted to make sure before i said anything and he had already done this process twice. He def did it right too, as in our father has worked with fiberglass and what not repairing cars and also boats. So does the aluminum or stainless plate sounds like a good idea?

what resin did your brother use on the previous repairs, and what type of surface prep?

stainless or aluminum seems like a much worse choice than cloth and epoxy resin to me.

what type of resin did you use for the repair? if you used polyester it won't work, it will cure and all but it wont bond to the hull. You have to use an epoxy resin for it to bond. http://www.uscomposites.com/epoxy.html scroll almost to the bottom of the page and you'll see west system epoxy resin. order a quart of 105 epoxy resin and 1/2 pint of 205 fast hardener that's all you need. if you feel like you need more then order the gallon of resin and a quart of hardner. make sure you order the west system pumps to at the bottom of the page so it will take the guess work out of mixing.

theres no reason that it should keep cracking open unless your dropping on it's side from like 40 feet up all day long, thats why i think you have the wrong type of resin.
