fixed steering sj question

when you guys are running the fixed steering conversion hoods, how do you secure your hoods? regular hood straps?

with the body weight and steering strength going onto the 'hood', i cant imagine you guys are running cheezy plastic clips.

anyone with pics of their setup?

I run cheesy plastic straps on my normal ski's but if I ever did a fixed steering, I would use a ratchet strap for sure.

twin ratchet straps mounted to the dash.....then bolt however much strap to the actual hood itself with a fender washer

here's a bad pic

thanks for the pic. i used a ratcheting strap in conjunction with the latch on my ski, but now that the hood is on my wifes ski, im not sure im going to have the room with the ppffh.

are you running ONLY a strap? no latch assembly?

i do it sort of like that but the straps go in through the boobie holes and attach to the hood liner.the stock latch wont hold for much more than casual riding no how matter you set it up.it will either break or come undone.

i was thinking to myself, as i was trying different things, to maybe attach the straps to the liner. ill see how this works then go from there. i only had to drill 2 small, hidden-ish holes to make this one work.

x2... just one strap each side from inside the hood liner... and the female ends coming up from the dash.

I use a big fat billet hood latch and 2" wide plastic clips from a life vest as hood straps.

No one will have bigger bales and wipe outs than I have and that set up has always worked for me.

The stock latch couldn't hold up to big 3/4 rolls.
