I finally got my SJ in the water. First ride ever. My observations:
Yami uses the same start/stop switch as on the Blaster, which is akin to a potato peeler. Note to self: In your excitement to ride an SJ, don't leave your gloves home on the porch.
All the things I have read here were true. This boat is much lighter than my Kawi. It absolutely leaps out of the water with a blip of the throttle. The hull is a little squirrely, and I need to adjust my turning style.
What I didn't expect, because it never seems to be mentioned on this forum, is the top end on one of these skis. This SJ would absolutely smoke my SXI Pro. It would be no contest whatsoever.
I also learned that a ski with footholds and a -3 pole is incredibly easy to sub. I had mud on the nose of the ski and weeds wrapped around my neck on my second sub attempt.....gotta find a deeper spot to mess around.
The footholds and -3 combo will take some getting used to. I am barely 5'10" and the pole almost seems too short.
I had a blast today. My arms and legs are aching and you couldn't wipe the smile off my face with a sledge hammer.
That's all, just thought I'd share the excitement of an SJ Newb.
