Firefox vs. IE

I quit using IE becasue I just plain hate Microsoft. They never had vision, always followers.

IE 7, Zune, Xbox, Windows, etc. are some examples (always late to the gate).

IE 7 now has tabbed browsing, which was the primary reason I switched to Firefox. Now FF2 now has spell checker in forms (like the edit box on the forum). Open source is the way to go. Now if I just had the cash to switch to mac. BSD Mach Kernel, yeah.

What do you use and why?

I use Fire Fox because I like the tab browsing, it's more secure and I also like the spell check.

I use firefox to spite Microsoft. Although right now Im on IE, becuase my old computer doesnt support it. If you do any research, you can find that IE tabs all the websites you go to in a hidden folder only accessible through DOS, thats some whacked out s%$#t

I use IE because I don't know any better and never tried Fire Fox.

Honestly, I ain't to puter savvy so I can't see the dangers in using IE.

Late to the gate? XBox 360 came out a full year ahead of the competition and was the first Gen 7 console. XBox Live was the first system of its kind and is still unrivaled.

With most other things, you are right. Btw, I use Firefox.

And I don't think it matters what we think...they do pretty well for themselves.

Yes, but MSFT was late to the gate entering the gaming console.

XB Live, yeah. I will give you that, though it was not vision. Just saw online gaming, which I believe they used in other MSFT PC games.

Xbox beating the competition... when has MS has any regard with quality control?

its a pretty cool browser. you can get it to talk to you if you highlight the text.

i tried to use it but im so use to the firefox buttons and stuff

They were late getting into it, you are right. However, they did amazingly well with their second console, both on the hardware side and in securing developers - including once exclusive Sony titles.

I am not sure what your last sentence means. QC...yeah, their 360's apparently had some serious issues in the first year. Serious enough for me to buy a 2yr warranty. :smile:
I believe Sony is in hotter water than M$ though.

Oh yeah, IE sucks.

I am also using Linux more and more.

opera is cool but the ads arent if you havent paid for it. Firefox is typically a smidge faster then IE and a bit more capable of doing tricks around the block then IE is, that is, if people start catering towards Firefox more.

Based on http://www.x-h2o.com/psistats.php?do=os it looks like it's about 50/50 FF/IE for pages on x-h2o.

Use what you like, I happen to like FF.

Plus, we use Ubuntu Linux at home, so having FF 2 on every computer I use makes it really nice. Also, you can copy your profile from one to another and keep all your saved passwords/cookies/bookmarks the same.

internet exploder? ive never had problems with it... I tried using firefox but didnt like the layout/format... mostly because im used to IE

I figured that, but it does not take into account preferences. I know at school FF is not available. IE is on every windows computer so members would not have an option if FF is not available and they could not install it.

Don't think I haven't tried. Kim was going to get me a MacBook for Christmas, but I told her no b/c mine works fine (well as well as MSFT can). (Why drop $1,200 on a notebook?).

Now, what will I use after XP? Definately not Vista.

Last time I turned on my Xbox.... hmmmm.
