Just finished doing a reinforcement and refoam on a ski. Im ready to glass in the top piece.
My question is, should I glass in a piece of mat on top of the foam right before I glass in the top piece?
I only plan on laying some 2 inch wide strips along the edges ontop of the wooden pieces (half on wood half on foam) then laying the top piece on that. Or would it better to lay a whole piece of mat on the foam?

After I get the top piece glassed on I plan on glassing over the top seam of that too.
Here is what I have.

In this pic, the top piece is just resting in the tray, its not glassed in.

I would go ahead and foam the tray, sand the foam down so the piece sits a little lower than flush, and then make up some cabosil/403/404/405/406 and dump enough in there so that it flows out of the cracks once you set the piece in, and then glass over the whole floor of the tray. It needs the extra strength anyway because the floor of the tray often cracks.

sorry for the long run on(s) :Eyecrazy:

I'm almost in the same position as you are. I have de-foamed the RN and will start packing the styrofoam in tonight/tomorrow.

I will do the same thing as I did on my SN (what Kennay described) when putting the tray back and then when the epoxy/cabosil is still wet, laying some mat down and then covering the entire tray area with 1208 biax to give it strength.
