i'm looking for somebody to throw a basic paint job on my ski because the guy who owned it before me tried painting it white...without doing the proper prep work so its now chipping off all over the place.

anyhow...do i go to my local autobody guy? or what can i google to find painters in my area? i'm not looking for a custom super dee dooper paintjob cause this is gonna be a surf battle boat, but i dont want a clunker.

thanks,
woody

A local auto body shop will be fine as long as u choose a late model auto color. This is the way to keep it cheap. I do all the prep work and my local paint and body guy does the paint and finish work for 200.00

Ah-now the fun really begins-you must remove all turf and turf glue to do it right. Or pay them about 50 per hour to do it for u. I have been removing all of my old turf and glue ALL DAY today!

removing turf and glue is a walk in the park on a nice day compared to removing those dam stickers!!!

If it was just returfed, why would you remove it just to paint? Mask it off and tell them to spray away.

$200 and you're getting mighty close to buying your own air compressor and cheap paint sprayer. I told mcdog I would spray his ski for free if he did the prep work and I did spray the bottom of pabloescobars ski for free. Spraying is nothing. Takes almost as much time to clean the gun as it does to empty it.

The red, white, and yellow ski was a spray can job that lasted about 2 years. The blue ski was the second time I ever used my air sprayer and it looks good and has held up great.

It's a custom made nose that is shown in my SN build. I started with 60 grit sandpaper to tear into the gelcoat and then I think I used either 100 or 120 grit sandpaper before painting but I used it on a dual action sander so it's not as damaging and ends up pretty smooth actually.
