Super Jet Finally found a RN...

i've always liked the look of the 96/97 color scheme and finally found one and only took 6 hours roundtrip to get it. well, just like my previous ski, this one has been sitting up for a while. from the separation/settlement in the tank, i'm guessing at least a year. compression was even and it started/ran perfect on the water hose. stock motor which supposedly has a fresh top end but not broken in yet. ski has AC aluminum pole, Jet-Dynamics ride plate, Rapid intake grate, Skat Trak 13/18 and this prop isn't broken. since it was a brackish/salt water ski, i took everything apart for inspection. found a badly pinched throttle cable, 3 broken motor mounts, the midshaft assy toasted., fuel lines brittle/cracked, carbs, filters and tank gummed up badly. all in all not a bad deal considering i paid $1,000 for the ski and $300 for repair parts.

yep, me too. finished around Saturday midnight putting in the midshaft assy., shimming the motor, rebuilding both carbs, running fuel lines, hooking up the electrical box and swapping pump assy. with a 15/18 blaster prop inside. today i re-aligned that dang AC pole so it would stop rubbing on the hood, ran my handle mount bilge switch and bilge pump/exit hose/exit fitting. most important, the ski started and ran with no problems. braaap...all i'm missing is a throttle cable. next weekend seems so far away now.

thanks. kinda cool story behind this find. i found this ski 2 days after posting. at this price, i know it would have sold within hours. the seller listed it on CL under recreational vehicles because it wouldn't let her list it under boats. i use searchtempest (which blankets an area by zip code/distance) to find anything on CL. that day i entered "superjet" and a few SN came up, but that was it. for some reason i decided to search Houston specifically, and there it was. how or why it didn't get a hit just a few minutes before i'll never know. i immediately called and left several messages and emails. aside from neighbors/friends, i was the only one who called about the ski. she was asking $1000 OBO, but after seeing it in person, hearing it run, it wouldn't have been right to low-ball the price. and icing on the cake, my little truck made it to Tx and back on one tank of gas @ 26.5 mpg, definitely a good day...

well, it didn't take long...installed my Riva pipe, stock f/a with 2 screens removed, fuel selector delete, complete pump assy from my sn with the 9/15 hooker, 84.5mm bored nozzle and quick-steer mod. running stock siphon and one cooling line to the pipe. will convert to dual cooling later.odi grips, blowsion finger throttle, bilge switch and an extended 0* bars that came from an FX-1. liking this ski so much more than my sn. in all fairness, it's the AC pole and bars that makes all the difference for throwing the ski around.
