Filling in the cases???

Took this pic from Roos FS-1 build thread. I've seen this done on a couple motors and I'm curious why people do it? What does it do???

Damn, that's a nice looking set of cases :smokin:

When case porting or the cases are opened (material ground away) to accept bigger cylinders, the aluminum can become thin in spots. This just helps make things a bit more dense.

Recommended on bigger motor builds.

does it block the cooling in any way? what type of material is used to fill in?

no cooling water there.
usually epoxy.

Also done for when machining for big stroker cranks and keeps them sealed if you have thin places in case housing when they break through.
