you shouldnt have to use any more hardener that what comes in the kit. If you are mixing it in the wrong ratios, you may have issues down the road.

Where are you located in ontario? I know of a few places (spread from downtown toronto to hamilton) that carry epoxy resins, glass, carbon, whatever you want.

Im closer to Ottawa. Just for the record, Ive done a fishing boat hull, a Tigershark hull and my X2 with the "Bondo" fiberglass kits and none of the jobs had any problems with them even after alot of abuse. And believe me my X2 gets plenty of abuse. I even dropped it on the freeway from my pick-up truck box and the repair did not budge.

As far has hardener, With the cold temperature we have right now, and not having a heated garage, a bit more hardener allows me to get the job done. I learned this from a reputable fiberglass repairsman who has been teaching me a few things.

I don't think any of your repairs were done on SMC, which is why Bondo worked.

The hardener trick will not work with Epoxy resin. But heat will.

It is extremely difficult to find epoxy resin in stores. Most likely, you'll have to order it. (I buy 3 gallons at a time for 158 shipped)

You can work with polyester resin on a Roundnose topdeck, but not on the bottom, and not on top deck of a Square.
I think the hood on a Round is out, too.

Yep, you can use it on a topdeck of a RN. My footholds were done with polyester, and my tray was reinforced with it, it is very strong and not going anywhere. When I cut my hood down to make it lowered I will be sure to order some epoxy.

Yes with polyester you can adjust the hardener to control how fast it cures.
One of a few features that make polyester easier to work with. Epoxy needs to be mixed per directions and also don't try to work with it colder than the label says.

Actually, heat will also allow the epoxy to get even stronger. Besides decreasing the curing time, higher temp (to a limit) will ensure a stronger build. I say; bring out the kerosene/electrical heaters and make sure what ever you're working on is really warm!
