Failed sub

Location

Is it common for the nose cover to break off durring a submarine on a SN supejet? I did my first sub of the season and the cover broke off and nailed me in the head. Should there be straps on this part? It snaped where it screws on by the hood.

Yes the front bumper is on. Is this a part i should worry about replacing or just leave it off and forget about it?

I would just leave it off, theres no harm in taking it off what so ever, except for looks (as what eeer said). there are ways you can beef it up if you want to keep it on... 3M 5200 works great, its a type of marine silicon, takes forever to dry but once it does, it holds great.

Mine hasn't come off yet, i rubber cemented the front rubber piece maybe that help a little. But i've done a dozen subs and its still on there. The only thing last year that came off was the gas lid door but i removed it and did internal fill.

You can get ss screws and washers that fit the head of the screw at Lowe's and screw down the front corners. I have not had the cover come out since I did this. You can see one in the pic below.
