Exhaust sleeve - 800 sxr

I want to install an R&D Exaust sleeve ("exhaust power sleeve") and want to know if I have to remove part of the exhaust? When looking down at the engine bay the gas tank is to the right and the engine to the left. Does the part of the exhaust that comes up from the engine, then goes to the right, and then goes back down and to the left need to be removed to install the exhaust sleeve? The sleeve goes in the "stinger" but I cant find a description of the stinger anywhere. The rubber pipe that goes from the exhaust to the waterbox needs to be removed, I know that, but I think it needs to be removed all the way to the left (under the part of the exhaust that I described above) and you can't even see the stainless clamp under there. Or is it really easier than I am making it? Thanks for the help!!

i asked Steve at Kommander about it and he told me don't even bother with it, thats all i know

take the rubber hose off the end of the exhaust put the sleeve in then put the hose back on

I figured it out last night and will post how I did it, but want to see if there's anyone that's done it first. Right now, I'm going riding to test it out.

I ran the MACCRacing version. Simple install. This is not one of those parts that is going to make a huge difference. But if your setting up a stock class racer, this is just another small piece of the puzzle that when all used and set up it can make a difference.

The trick was figuring out how to get that hose clamp unfastened while it's under the upper part of the exhaust and not visible. Then I took a step back and saw the hose clamp's screw at an angle through a small gap reachable with a 14" socket extension. Good thing I have that extension set otherwise I would have had to remove the upper part of the exhaust. After you get it unscrewed (and the other 3 hose clamps before teh water box) then you have to pull back real hard on the hose to give you enough of an opening to slip the sleeve inside the pipe. Another trick is to use a little soapy water to slide the rubber hose back over the ridge of the sleeve. Then tighten up the 4 clamps and you're ready to go.

I rode it today and noticed a little bit of increase in brap, like you said, not much of a difference but there isn't really a magical part to make everything run faster... the sleeve will help with all the other mods I have done. I also cut some of the grates off of my stock intake grate today, the idea that I will get more inflow volume and hopefully more outflow volume (aka speed).
