Exhaust hose from pipe to water box (oem)

1) How soft should it be? Mine feels like hard plastic (it's from a SN) and I think it's not absorbing any vibrations and is helping to beat up my R&D pipe.

2) The SN and the RN have different part numbers. Has anyone actually seen the difference? I'm using a cut up SN one on my RN with the R&D pipe. It doesn't seem to fit poorly it's just too hard.

That hose is pretty thick & hard, not soft.
Those R&D Pipes have a reputation for cracking.
