Ex Racer wanting to get into freestlye/ freeriding

Location
Texas
I gave up racing 2 years ago and want to start freeriding. I have a stock class legal SXR. mods: ride plate, intake grate, flame arrestors, plug and play timing advance, bilge, and several different props. I never ride in the ocean and don't plan to yet. The biggest waves I see are thrown by 25' boats. no big stuff here.

I have a few questions. Where do I start? I just ordered a set of Dakine foot straps. Is it possible to mount them both in the back? Should I put the stock prop back in it for more low end? I have a ton more questions, to many to ask. Just looking for insight.

thanks,
Alex

what prop do you have now? If Dynafly 12/20 cut back 5-7mm then your fine with that prop. Personally, I do not like foot straps, but to each their own. In big surf I would think they would be better than in flat water. Flat water puts alot of force on straps.

As an ex racer my self I have this advice
I do not wish to get into a kawi versus yamaha slanging match
But sell the stock sxr and buy a superjet
The sxr does not have the punch of the bottom to do what you want in that hull
And they are expensive to make them go hard enough for free ride

im with waxhead ...i hav rode them both...the sxr would be an alright freeride ski in the ocean(handles great nice wide tray...but heavy) i have an 09 sj basic bolt ons and everybody that has an sxr racer/freerider all luv it...

The superjet is the best of both worlds...not doggin the sxr but for freeride

the superjet is my choice for sure...

if your serious about gettin into it, you should put your pride aside and do the reasonable thing. there is a reason why almost everybody runs yamaha based platforms.
