Euro Tour Portugal Freestyle

16 year old Lee Stone has reached a level even I can't believe. I said this 2 years ago when I came back from Portugal. Caught a lot of Poo for it also as you may remember. He does a flat water back flip as easy as walking down the street. Any Burgess at 16 is not far behind. They are Pros at 16 and have set the bar very high. They will both be at the World Finals. I am hopeful that Daniel Ashcroft may come and compete as Amature and finish what he tried to do 3 years ago. He has not competed for at least 2 years but I am hopeful he will qualify in England and come over also. All American Freestylers need to dig deep!!

.....wow, as easy as walking down the street??? He should be pulling doubles then... Hell, why not a triple flip, since it's so easy... j/k

:bananalama:

flatwater freestyle is dead in this country... almost as dead as racing

Ahhh...yes. A perfect example of why I don't post here often and why Lee Stone won't post at all. Seems I met with this same kind of response two years ago. (kidding or not) Also the reason that I won't go into detail as to EXACTLY what moves Lee did in his performance. I look forward to you coming to World Finals and seeing for yourself.

Eh, don't mind Nick....some days he can be a little grumpy :).

I'll be at world finals. And as much as flatwater freestyle isn't my personal preference for riding, I enjoy watching it at finals.

lighten up... friends joke w/ each other... It's pretty common... :cheer2:

I bet if Lee posted on here people would be very nice to him.... Why would anyone be mean to him??? He is a very tallented rider and could probably help some of the flatwater guys out...

Are you really saying he won't post on this site cause he's afraid of being joked around with???? I have to tell you, that is a ridiculous notion and I doubt he said that... I don't know him, but that sounds a bit ridiculous..

British people can be very sensitive - you have no idea how often you guys have made me cry myself to sleep :24:

Seriously though, I agree with Nick: flatwater freestyle isn't exactly booming over here, and that's a great shame. I think both Lee and Ant are awesome, and are definitely the future of the sport in the UK/Europe. We need more like them in the US, and I think that they could be a great inspiration to kids over here if they posted on this site.

You should talk to them again Nedra - show them the "Trick How To" section and see if they'll jump in with some advice. I would love to see a frame by frame of some flatwater rolls with a commentary from pros like these guys. I'd also love to now where they think the sport can go from here, because I see a dull spell coming up:

When the flatwater roll was introduced, it was amazing, and then came all the variations. Then there was a dull spell when freestyle became all about how many rolls can be packed into a routine. I see the same thing coming up with backys, since we're in the variation phase now. Part of the inspiration for people is to know that there's still innovation ahead. Lee and Ant are the future innovators.

i didn't even think he was 16 yet. shame that malone isn't competing this year because i'd love to see malone, lenzi and lee pushing each other.

Obviously, you haven't met the guys in my business. :salook:(Rock and Roll) I regularly meet some very abrasive anti-american brits. I'm not saying, but I'm just saying. Somehow I don't buy this...:haha:

That's the truth!

There is a little irony in there - we Brits are not known for our tact and sensitivity (as I am regularly reminded when I upset people at work!)

US freestylers may be inclined to dig a little deeper if you showed them as much support as you show the UK riders...i think people get their feelings hurt and this may be the reason for aforementioned poo...

stone is a very, very good rider...but i think it hurts him more than it helps him to have, what appears to the rest of us, as an elitist attitude towards the freestyle/freeride community...

I have been thinking about this post alot. I am surprised Harrison, Ratti, or Darren, or ParrDaddy haven't chimed in here. Elitist I am not. Far from it. I support Amature Freestyle more than I do Pro. I think it is better and more interesting. What I do is keep my ear to the ground and eyes on the water for any new talent coming either from foriegn countries or our own. Due to the fact that I have many friends in England and Europe I learn about up and coming talent EARLY. I post here when I have news that I think the people who visit this website would like to know so when they attend World Finals they have an idea of what is coming. I watch websites for Japan, and Brazil very closely. I inquire to anyone who may have information about someone we know nothing about. As far as the Americans go......
I was supporting Joe Eckert long before anyone knew who he was!!
I paid Ratti's World Finals entry fee having never even met him!!
I believe that Jeremy Parr's National program last year was perfect!! He should be the National Champion. Malone said so himself. Jeremy was text book freestyle!!
I will add at this time that there is a young man in Northern California, that if he comes to Nashville he should do very well, if not win, Amature Freestyle.
Anyone who knows me knows that I screem the loudest and ring the bell the hardest for Amatures!!
I have known Lee Stone since he was 10 years old. I am sorry if you think my friendship with him makes me an elitest. I deliberately did not post anything about Anthony Burgess coming to finals because of the abuse I took when I brought the news about 14 year old Lee. I wasn't about to walk into the fire again with news of a 16 year old that would make World Finals history by being the first Amature to not only win Am Freestyle but podium as a Pro.
Freestyle numbers are dropping everyday. That is why I am so excited to see a large group forming in Northern California. Why it is exciting to see a Junior Freestyle class. All I am trying to do here is bring you information that is new. Firsthand information that only I can bring you. I have the honor of having access to information that many do not. I am probably the only fan in the history of sport that cheers for everyone!! Most fans love one and hate the rest. I love all of you!! Unconditionally!! Rather I know you or not!! If you are in this sport I love you, support you, and pray for your success. I know it is a novel concept but none the less TRUE!!!
See You In Nashville!
You can't miss me. I am the old tart with the cowbell screeming her lungs out!!:cheer:

Hey Chris, I can understand what you are saying..... But please, at Nationals, go introduce yourself to Nedra and talk to her for a few minutes. You will change your whole view.... also, stand next to her while you film Amature Freestyle... last year between runs she was talking to just about every one of us hyping us up......... heck she came up to me and asked if I wanted to touch a piece of gum on her hat that Malone put there several years ago....... sounds gross but that is how she is......... she cares more about Amature freestyle than anything else.....
