I use West System epoxy, but it's a bit spendy. I'm sure someone will post up a cheaper option (which I would go for if I were you). It's best to use some kind of thickening compound (like silica microspheres) to stop the resin from running out while it cures.

Don't use steel rivets - they'll rust. Actually, my advice would be not to use rivets at all - they tend to loosen over time. I bolted mine using big washers inside and out and it's holding up great.

Go to www.grainger.com and look up this part number: 6430A18

It's an expensive epoxy but you don't need much of it. I like it because it is somewhat flexible, whereas normal epoxy is brittle. It'll be runny so what I would do is mix it with some 1/32" milled fiber: http://www.uscomposites.com/fillers.html

The fibers add strength and you can make the epoxy so thick that it doesn't flow. Leave it more runny if you want to fill cracks.

you could use 5200 if you didnt want resin its kind of messy. if not go to west marine store get a small repair kit so you dont buy to much resin. if you need some silica i can hook you up with enuff for your project pm me i have 5 gallons of it. im about to cut this new pole i have on the way. have fun

"fiberglass resin" could be anything...

5200 is a polyurethane adhesive. It doesn't get stiff, so I would not use it on the handpole.

Epoxy resin is what you want to use. But epoxy is very brittle, that's why I recommended that Loctite Hysol, it has impact modifiers in it which allow it to take more abuse before cracking.

I think if you use screws the 5200 would be fine. Epoxy is permanant, with the 5200 you might have a prayor of taking it appart some day if you ever need to.
