Super Jet engine will not turn off

Epic ignition for over a year with no problems. Suddenly the stop button and the lanyard will not turn the engine off. Assumed it was a start stop switch problem and replaced it with a working switch. Still does it. I can kill the engine by flooding it with gas from the primer or pulling a plug wire.

I pm'd qjs but no response yet as far as if it could be the ignition. I'm sure he will get back to me soon though.

Any other ideas?

Does it use the stock switch? Keep it simple. Broken and corroded wires will drive you insane.

It is the stock switch. I do have high quality jss bullet connectors on the wires outside the box for quick changes. They all look solid.

It SEEMS. The only job of that ignition is to provide spark. Im not firmiliar with it. But if that were my ski with the stock setup and i had swapped my switch with a known good one is check the wires on the other end of those connectors. Going into the ebox. I actually just soldered one of those up myself. Again im not firmiliar with your ignition. Sry im not much help.

A friend had a problem with his epic ignition but it was the opposite of your problem. It would just shut off for no reason. QJS sent a firmware up date and that fixed the problem. So you could wait for a him to send a firm update but I would still check for any air leaks still. Does it keep running just about every time of not?

Unplug black n white connector, on ebox side stick needle nose plyers in and make connection...see if that grounds spark out and shuts motor off.

Have you cleaned this plug out? Mine did the same thing and it was the plug that was corroded. I cut the plug out and soldered them together. WOULD not advise this, Pita to take the electrics apart now.

Hi sorry I haven't replied to your pm, I don't seem to be getting email notifications.
If you have changed the stop start and still have a problem it is likely from the connector back to and inside the ebox. Check the connector block carefully and make sure its not rotted away with salt, if this is ok check inside the ebox paying particular attention to the white wire. Its this white that stops the ski when shorted to ground.

Everything is pristine and perfect and tight. Still will not shut off. I tried using some needle nose pliers on the ebox side white and black wires with no success.

Time to get ohmmeter out? What am I looking for? I hate electrics.

If it was an airleak pulling the plug wires would not work, right? It will not shut off every time it is started. Pulling the plug wires works to stop it every time.

There was never any acting weird sometimes it does it and sometimes not. It was like someone threw a lightswitch and it suddenly was broken after working fine all day.

With the ebox open, dis connect the white from the stop start harness from the Epic. Then make up a short length of wire and put in its place (connect to the white coming from Epic) Start the engine then touch the end of the cable you made to the ebox ground and see if it stops. It would be a good idea to turn the idle right down during testing. Also, just occured to me make sure the ebox has a good ground...ie continuity to the engine and battery.

That test rules out the 2nd stop switch you installed from being bad...Like Chris said about it being possibly a bad ground, you can hook up a jumper cable from ebox to motor then test to rule out it being a bad ground before taking ebox all apart....the ebox is only grounded to the motor by one tiny black wire to the stator...

Ground wire fixed it. Guess that means my ground wire on my stator is bad?

No, if that were the case the ignition wouldn't work at all.

The wiring between EPIC and switch harness is bad.
