Engine trouble, Electrical?

When I run the Jet ski in the garage, w/flush adapter, it revs good, response, etc.. Then I take it to the lake, and it runs like a retarded carp. Not getting response, no high revs.Does it sound like an electrical issue. If the wires are getting wet (around splices). Sounds like it's running on one cyl, (again, only when it's in the water).

well it could be water leaking into the cylinder??? thats what i would suspect if it runs good on the trailer but crap under load in the water. Not sure if it make a difference from the pump running the water vs the hose. Maybe someone else could verify.

Makes sense

We've modified the exhaust manifold to bring down the height of the engine (for our prototype) so you might have hit the nail on the head. I'll look into that.

Is there a version of Malones (EME) type of exhaust manifold avail. for a 650sx?

Thanks for input

mine is doing the same thing. I suspect stator, the spark is very weak when the plug is pulled and grounded to the head. Hardly noticeable. I am going to swap out the stator to try and remedy the issue. It runs great on the trailer:bs2:

A friend reminded me that if water is getting into the cylinders, the plugs would be too clean...The stator thing could be it, I could barely see the spark. So that would only be noticed (performance) under load?

When I did the same test on my other ski, the spark is bright white/blue. The ski in question runs only on one cylinder when in the water and both out of the water.

Okay....they almost always run great without a load. Most of the time, issues become apparent under load.
So, it should be no surprise that a ski that runs problematic in the water will run great in the drive way.
