engine cranking too fast.. what could it be?

I have two kawi 650s and i notice that one seems like it is cranking way too fast.. seems like twice as fast as the other one when starting.. compression between the two engines is within 10 PSI and i used the same battery to start both.
the one that cranks very fast has been sitting for at least 4 years (165psi in both cylinders on Snap-On guage with throttle closed). does it sound like a problem i need to be concerned about? what could be causing it?

Thanks

Sounds to me like the other one has a weak starter. My 86 X2 cranks much slower than all 4 of the others.

well, nothing wrong with fast crank i guess but it's unusually fast!. also with a little effort i can turn the impeller shaft by hand.. on my other one i cant.. was wondering why that might be considering no compression probelms. ok i guess if doesnt sound like a problem i'll just throw it in and ride it.

thanks

He did check the compression.

I would start checking my ground, starter, bendix and impeller clearance on the one that is turning over slow.

You should be able to turn that engine over by hand with 150ish compression.

alright that for the advice. i'll check it out.. the slower cranking one cranks and starts and runs fine .. actually they both do.. just was wondering if it sounded like reeds or anything needed to be replaced since it sat so long.. i'm a newb to engines.

Aftermarket starters often spin MUCH faster than stock. See if the faster spinning motor has a Goki or other aftermarker starter on it.
