you could have a bad wire............... you have to check everything.
twist the wires, wiggle back and forth, feel for breaks.

I'm with Kahuna, a failing main ground wire can cause problems like you are having. You need to qualify that the battery is charged by doing a voltage test at the battery while connected before and while you are hitting the start button. A fully charged battery should read about 12.5 - 12.8 v and the voltage should not drop much below 12.1 while starting. If the voltage drops to 10 or 11v while starting then the battery is bad or you have a short somewhere. If the battery voltage stays good while trying to start the you have a bad wire, bad solenoid, or bad starter. If the starter is spinning fast but not engaging then you have a bad bendix. I still say it sounds like a bad ground though. Troubleshooting is 90% of the repair. :banghead: Good luck.
