Recently rebuilt the ebox on my blaster because the screws came loose and salt water got in and began to corrode everything. I cleaned off the CDI, ignition coil, voltage regulator, starter relay, and replaced all screws. I want to used some sort of spray protectant before I put it back together. I have a rubber gasket and I am going to use silicone as well, but was wondering if anyone has ever used an anti corrosion spray? Radio shack sells a spray for electronics that I was thinking about using, http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3511774. Any thoughts?

I hate to endorse WD-40 and I am sure there is something better out there but I know Ive sprayed it on my trailer light plugs after they have been all salty from winter driving and its helped a lot. There is probably a better more expensive solution but something along those lines would be good.

Make sure that the holes in the plastic ebox half are not stripped. Use a new gasket and some 1211 or DOW 111 on both sides and each grommet. Do not over tighten the screws. Use some of the same sealant on the cap and make sure it has a gasket.

i recently heard of someone filling their ebox with oil.... anyone ever hear of this before? i've heard of computer nerds having their pc's filled with oil for cooling purposes but haven't ever seen someone use oil as a means to avoid water or salt corrosion....

If you seal the ebox properly (and this isn't hard), there is no need for any of that crazy stuff.

seems like a new gasket and maybe a little hondabond rtv would be considerably cleaner... just wondered if that was some sort of normal practice or just another crazy idea someone had....

a little dyelectric grease in all the connections will help too if you do have any water get in there. it will keep the connections from corroding together too.

Well if you in a pinch....you might not have the time to order it. Its good stuff, i am not knocking it at all. But dielectric is a little more availiable.
