Electric Skateboard - Childhood Dream

Location

This past June I purchased an Electric Skateboard after watching many reviews of different brands. I settled with the MEEPO Mini v2. I couldn't justify the long range version, and $399 delivered is a deal! I grew up skateboarding from age 13-19. I never put a lot of effort into tricks. Farthest I got was doing ollies up curbs, board slides, and some 50-50 grinds. I just loved riding my skateboard and still keep one in the car because of it. Well it's 2021, and we have quite a few choices for electric skateboards, scooters, go-karts, and One-wheels!

I started my quest by searching for an electric go-kart. I ended up with the skateboard for a few reasons.

1. I tried the One-Wheel. Nothing about it was natural to me. Water skiing, Skateboarding, and BMX bikes were my thing growing up. They translate directly into standup jet skiing body english.
2. It Looks just like a Cruiser from the 80/90s, nobody knows it's electric until you hit the brakes or rev it out.
3. The Price
4. It's not a Long Board...you'd get beat up riding those as a kid :)
5. Uses HobbyWing electronics, the same as my RC car.

I have over 100 miles on my board in less than two months. I ride it almost daily to the local beaches and parks. Asphalt bike paths are infinite carving. I'm just starting to break 20mph, this thing goes 28mph!

What are you riding?

One wheel for me. snowboarded a ton in my youth and reminds me of it the most. I also like that I can go offroad and do the mtb trails with it. Just wish it had double the power so I could go up steeper hills. If looking for electric anything else check out the sur-ron.

I have taken the skateboard down well packed gravel driveways without issue. There is a guy making off road wheels for these, but he only makes a few batches a year.

That is the one con of the skateboard, off-road. I like that I can control the speed/brake with my hand, not leaning. Leaning should be for turning.
