E Box Question.

Dudes , are there any visual differences between an oem ebox on a square nose 650 sj , and a oem ebox on a round nose 700 twin carb sj. I`m trying to figure out which one i have in my old sn...... Thanks.

I believe the SN CDI will be marked 6M6

99% they are marked 61X and 62T so assuming they would be for 650 SN. Then again, I haven't played with a stock cdi in 5 years.

Externally the boxes are the same. Only way to tell is look at the number on the CDI inside.

6M6 is 90-93 SN
61X is 94-95 SN
62T is 96+ RN

Yamaha Waverunners using the same engines, 650(6M6), 701 single carb (61X), and 701 dual carb (62T) will also have these.

Isn't there one bullet connector that is flip-flopped on the CDI for 62t vs 61x?

Yes, the connectors of the white/red stripe wire which runs to the pulser coil, suffers from gender confusion. 61X is female, 62T is male. That's why the MSD enhancer has been furnished with a male/ male adapter lead since 1996.
