Dual carbs, single pickup?

Got a kart tank to run on my 66E build. It is currently setup with one pickup and one return. Will the single pickup flow enough if I "Y" off of it right near the tank and run it to my dual Powerbombs or should I swap the return for a second pickup and tap a return fitting into the tank. I was told by an engine builder that the "Y" would be fine but wanted to get another opinion.

I have a similar qustion, I think my .170 Tee looks a little small to feed my engine.

But it would seem to me that your maximum fuel flow is limited to your N&S size. If your combined N&S area is less than the area of your single incoming line, you would be good to go?

My thought was if I run a single pickup and a single fuel filter then a Y I could be sure the carbs are both either getting fuel or not, if something happens and no fuel is delivered its the same for both carbs and the motor shuts off. If I ran dual pickups and one of the in-tank pickups fell off or a fuel filter got clogged it could technically run one cylinder dry but still have enough power to run for a bit (on one cylinder) possibly causing damage to the other. Or I could just be paranoid about it and I should just run dual pickups....I just noticed my tank had a return nipple molded into it (just not drilled) so its as simple as buying a second pickup kit.
Anybody have some input?
