Other dual bilge wiring?

I have a blowsion rotary 3 position switch and want to hook it up so that in one position I have one running and in the other both will run together. Does anyone know what size/type of diode I need to run to prevent feedback when trying to run only one pump?

Here you go. Positive goes into the switch, then one wire goes to pump 1 positive, another to pump 2 positive. The diode keeps current from flowing to one of the pumps. It really doesn't matter which way the diode goes, it just affects which switch position controls one or two pumps. Both pumps can be grounded together. I cant remember what size diode you need, I'll have too look later.dual bilge.jpg

Ya thats how I planned on wiring it, awesome diagram though!! I just dont know what size diode I need to use. I greatly appreciate it if you find out. Kids at my local radio shack told me to ask a kawi dealer lol.

I'm pretty sure Radio Shack won't carry the diode you need. Just find an electronics store in your area and ask for a 1/2 or 1-watt zener diode and use it with the switch on negative side with the diode between the pumps and be sure to fuse protect both positive sides of the pumps.

I don't know how much current your pumps will draw on start up when loaded with water but, you should be pretty safe with a 6 amp diode. Check the specs of your pumps.

I think #ZERO meant to say Rectifier diode. Zener diodes feature a very low reverse breakdown voltage which is not required here. Like the man said, adding a fuse to each pump would a good idea. The drawing looks good.

I have a plug and play option if you would be interested. I built them as options to my Tidy Bilge harnesses and it's a 6 amp diode.

If you just want the diode, PM me your your address and i'll send you one, If you want the plug and play version I can send you one for $7.50 shipped and it will come with connectors and heat shrink to make it fit your current setup. I would probably send yours with simple crimp and shrink connectors though for install outside the ebox.

I would also be more than happy to sell you a complete drop in harness, just connect to the battery and go.
