Freestyle Dual 49mm on 701

A buddy and me was debating, if putting dual 49 mm carbs on my strong limited 701 was a good ideer ? the reason for the debated is lot of peopel are buying lots of carb combos, for ther setups. Why not just buy the ultimate setup from the starte and never have too buy carbs again.Have seen peopel run dual 48 mm on ther 701s with good results.Soo can i run dual 49 mm full spec on a boysen intake (my favorite carb setup) on my 701 ?

My setup FP type4, EPIC, ADA head, 48 mm singel riva bomb, 61x cylinder ported, 62t cases ported, lighten flywheel, coldfusion couplers.

Personally I think you should run dual 44, dual 49 is way to much carb I don't care what kind of 701 you have, that's the carb set-up Xmetal is using on there 1200cc motor.... Just my thoughts

Find out the venturi size. Im sure they can work but with a very rich pilot/popoff and restrictive flame arrestor. Remember that a carb needs to be just big enough not to restrict too much power. Any larger and you must compensate for lack of fuel draw. Stick with stock carbs until you have become accomplished at tuning the whole powertrane. Then you will have a good idea of what you need instead of being fixated on the size of your equipment.

Yes, you can run a 49 FS dual set up on a limited set up. Especially with your set up - dry pipe, adjustable ignition, case and cylinder porting. A lot of people on here will say it is too big, I am not going to say they are right or wrong, I will just say on our skis, they work much better. If tuned right, it will run better than 38s or 44s. A pwc 2 stroke is basically a big air pump. The more air/fuel mixture, especially if atomized right, the better. The FS, Novi and 46mm carbs atomize fuel so much better than the other carbs they allow you to tune the larger bore carbs, even into a limited 701. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking a 46 is just a bore out 44, it is not. All the good carbs out there are made from 46mm bodies. We run 48 Novis on our spec blasters, which are basically the old limited rules. Ask anyone who has ridden one and they will tell you, no 38 or 44 carb'd limited can touch them. I love going to Wavedaze and letting people ride them, they always ask... 'is it a big bore?'

I doo think you are all right in some way, 38s and 44s will work and work good. I just wanted my next carb setup too bee my last (maybe). Scottie mac gives a good explanation too why it could work, what setup are you running in your blaster ?

Back when I raced Limited I had a set of 46 Full Spectrums. I was talking to the man Ed Brazina himself and he told me I HAD to run 48's. He didn't even want me to use the 46's. I was cheap so I ran them anyways and it rocked.

In my personal ski I use 48 Novis, R&D Mani, V force reeds and a spacer. I have used the boyeseen intake with full specs with great results. I used to have a limited SJ with R&D semi dry pipe, head, msd enhancer the full spec set up and it rocked. Plus, I went straight from the stock 38s to that set up, major improvements bottom to top. About the only thing beneficial to 38s and 44s is they are better on fuel economy.
