Dry Carbs 4 U

I figured I would share this for all the guys that run mod carbs and can't use stock style spark arrestors. It is a lexan bowl I got for $10 at the supermarket. It had a neat one way valve in the lid to purge air and keep it sealed tight. I cut it to clear stuff and attached it with some stainless hardware. My first version of this beat up the spark arrestors but this one is a lttle better and should hold up longer. Here is the list of stuff you will need if you make one your self.

2 - 1/4" X 2" stainless screws
4 stainless 1/4" fender washers
4 - 1/4 " nylock nuts
2 pieces of the thick grey Hydro turf padding cut round
2 reguar pieces of turf cut round
2 round piece of .90 aluminum cut just small enough to drop on the top of the spark arrestor indent

Here is the order of assembly from the top down:

Nylock nut
fender washer
regular turf
lexan dish
hydroturf pad
nylock nut
.90 aluminum circle
spark arrestor
fender washer
1/4" srcew going up through all of it.


I tried this with out the piece of aluminum on top and vibration chewed the washer through the top of the sparkarrestor lid.


This works AMAZING in my X2! It even starts when I loose it on the inside and it ends up flipped over in the break. I have taken 45 seconds to get to it and it still never missed a beat.

I don't see the one way valve?

I see you used a really big washer on top & a smaller one on the bottom. I would recommend 2 really big ones (as large as you can fit, you can swis cheese them for weight reduction), and radius the edges. Also maybe some rubber sheets sandwiched between the washers & FA.

Uh, wouldnt that hold water in them if you flip it with water inside?

I only described the one way valve in the lid so you can identify it if you are shopping for this particular bowl. The lid is in the trash.

I am going to try it like this and see how long it lasts. I am afraid any rubber between the washers migth deteriorate and leave the washers loose to move around with vibration.


Like I said my X2 has been upside down for a pretty long time and it hasn't sucked water. So I guess they aren't filling up with water when upside down.


This is the best my X2's have ever run and I have used stock kawi and yamaha spark arrestors.

If it is Lexan they there will be no problems with that stuff. It is bullet proof literally. I work with that stuff all the time it is great.
