Domes for 83mm bore?

Guys,

I've got a fresh 83mm bore that I have been running with a Riva girdled head that has normal 81mm 35cc domes.

What is the best approach here? Keep using 81mm domes and do some machining of the outer dome area, or use 84mm domes? For what it's worth, I will be using an ADA girdled head shortly.

Any help would be great, as I'd like to get the right domes with the new head!

Thanks,

Leigh

If I am not mistaken, 701 domes are usually good up to 83.0 - 83.5mm bore.
Measure the bore of the dome, and after you install the head, measure the squish.

Yeah, I'd do that, but I am purchasing a new ADA head, so I don't really have access to it at this time, and want to get the right domes.

I was thinking of the 84mm ones, but I'd have .5mm gap that would fill with carbon. I'm not sure if this is a smart thing for a race boat?

I would run the std 701 domes on an 83mm bore. I have in the past, without a hitch. Be sure to measure the squish clearance, though.
