Does anyone insure their ski's?

Illinois doesn't require it but I have mine and the wifeys ski insured 6K for hers and trailer and 8K for mine no trailer. Which is enough to replace the skis in the exact condition (or better if I buy stuff used) they are in now. It is included in with the house insurance makes it $26 a month for skis through country companys ins.

Liability and theft,,Liabilty in case something happens on the water to cover what I own,,,theft only gets me a new SJ less all the Goodies....

a lot of you guys are saying how expensive your skis are with all those mods done. will your insurance give you anything extra just because of the mods? all of the insurance companies i contacted in the past would just give you blue book value which is well below market value on a good SJ and blaster.

mine are currently based on blue book value. however i'm in the process of having that changed to the actual cost of replacement. It's tedious because it has to be an itemized list of all components + cost. But it is worth doing because if something happens, I will get full replacement of ski as it is now. On a side note, even if it was just replacement, I would still have them insured so that human bodily harm is covered.

IMO, you're playing with fire if you don't have insurance. Anything can happen at anytime & I sure don't won't to have to give up everything I have worked for just because I didn't spend a few extra dollars on insurance.

All of mine are insured - it only costs like $120.00 a year...... Liability only!

This reminds me though..... I gotta insure the new SXR! Oops:doh:

Only Insurance I have is liabilty through my homeowners. Theft or loss is out of my pocket. Every place I checked would not insure due to modifications or due to lack of previous coverage.

Yeah, here is why I went with liability only:

(Approximate numbers)
Liability coverage premium: $65
Replacement coverage premium: +$100
Book value: $800
Deductible: $500

So I would pay $150 to insure my ski. If it was stolen or totaled, I'd pay $500 and the insurance company would give me $300. Even the agent agreed it was dumb. So I would be paying $150 to get $300 if I needed it. Riiight.

I am insured for liability through my homeowner's insurance (I think all I had to do was let them know about the jet skis and I was able to add this in for a nominal cost).

I used to insure my skis for collision, etc., but learned that the payout that they offered wouldn't even come close to covering what it would cost me to rebuild them if something catastrophic happened. Decided that I'd rather put the money in the bank (it was something like $400 per ski and I had three at the time... they were only going to payout something like $2000 or maybe less on the Blaster, and, if something happened to it, I don't think I'd ever find one as clean)
