Do I need a stand?

I used some 2 x 4 to make a small bed cradle for my skis. It has worked great over the years, stops the ski from rocking side to side to side. What Joker said works too. What ski are you loading?

I made a little stand a layed down 2x4 with a PVC pipe screwed into It, makes it easy on the hull and easy to slide in and out if your bed has the ugly factory bed liner you really don't need anything

And try to strap the ski Down to the bed not just in if that makes sense you want to try to keep the ski secured town to the bed to avoid it jumping up and down while your on the freeway

I have a bed liner and just rest it in the bed. I have a Silverado and raising the load height would be unacceptable. If I did build a rack, it would only be so the skis would clear the wheel well, as the bond lines on my superjet and X2 rub when loaded together.
