do any X2 waterboxes make more power?

I have a stock waterbox, and a custom waterbox that was gutted and redesigned. Regardless of the custom design, can any power be found by changing out waterboxes? I know with superjets aftermarket waterboxes just make more noise

sorry no pics

Pretty much the same rule as SJ. Most X2 AM boxes are so loud its not worth it. If you want to squeeze NOTICABLE extra mid/topend out of an X2 stock box, do the drill mod. On a 750/800 X2 this makes a BIG difference, and only brings the noise up maybe 15% over stock. Start with a LONG 3/8" bit and drill through both baffles of the OUTET. (not the 3rd as this is the bottom of the box). Use some tapping oil to help it drill through though stainless. Best waterbox for the X2! If you can get ahold of a 94/95 box, they have 2" outlets and flow even better/quieter.

thanks for the pics, I did a half a$$ed version of that drill mod on my stock box. I'll have to snap pics of this custom waterbox. There are two tubes inside, one for the inlet, one for the outlet. They run almost all the way back, and have holes all over each. It actually seems more restrictive

I've run several aftermarket waterboxes (coffman & westcoast) and have sold them and gone back to the drill mod'd stock box. I don't think the minimal performance gain was worth the annoying sound. Plus I found that it sometimes attracted the "wrong attention". Plus if you want to read up and get a pro's opinion here's a link (the info is at the bottom of the page).

Yeah the wrong attention is pritty true (i got nicked and the guy told me it was because im loud he noticed me) the aftermarket waterboxes are very loud... Im currently running a westcoast but in the past have run both drilled out standard and PJS... I would deffently not run a PJS again (allthough very light which was the origional reason i put it in to get some weight off the nose) it is just a loud box, doesnt really fit in there all that nice like the standard box and doesnt offer much in the gain of power, but i have decided to run the westcoast ONLY because it eliminates the elbows and i think this is a great thing, they fit on the standard mounts great, little bit lighter than the standard i would say (not much if any) but reliable in the surf as there is half the amount of joins in the pipe, but yeh its rudely loud!
