direction of roll???

hey guys
Does the engine give off enough torque to affect the rotational speed of a roll. I just started attempting rolls on flat water and I spin to the right. I feel more comfortable this way. I also have a trim system,,,,When should it be used if it will help at all? Thanks

to the right is the right way.

left is for posers! :beerchug:

Is there a goofy foot/regular stance piece of this equation? I ride goofy foot and have been rolling to the right, but have tried a couple to the left.....not sure which is more natural. Although, I guess if your using foot holds, there is no goofy/regular stance?? I don't use footholds.

wow, that's crazy. I would think that, if rolling in surf stance, regular foot forward would be easier to roll right and goofy foot to roll left. That way you are front side rolling vs backside rolling.

personally, i don't think it matters. i don't think it plays any real factor in roll direction.

most of the guys i see rolling, roll left... i roll right because it's more comfy for me.

next time out i might try rolling left to see how it feels.

I'm ambidextrous for turns (i always turn heel side sinking butt into turn), but regular is my natural stance, i'm a regular foot righty, i roll to the left.

if you are a goofy foot lefty, rolling to the right would be your natural direction.

Even in the footholds with a symmetric stance, you'll still have a natural regular or goofy foot tendency and should go with it.

Great description. I roll left, I cannot even thing about the motions to roll right. I bat right handed (I am left handed though), I cannot even swing a bat left handed.

i think i might have my goofy/regular stance confused... i ride left foot forward (roll right) - am I goofy or regular? Because I thought right foot forward was goofy foot.

n. "Goofy Foot" is one of the oldest terms still current in surfing jargon. It describes a right foot forward surfing stance and was coined from a Walt Disney film in the 1950's in which Goofy surfed with his right foot forward. The phrase has made its way into use in all boarding sports distinguishing the stance from a regular or natural foot which has the left foot towards the front of the board.

Goofy to me would be Right Foot forward. If your rolling right and have left forward..... uh, I dont ride surf stance so ignore what I say!!!!!!

It does make sense to roll right with left forward in surf stance. That the only way you can throw your body into it.

I'm regular foot as well and I have always rotated/spun left on my skis, but when I ride my bike, I prefer rotating right (180's, hips, quarter pipes) and have a really hard time spinning left ... so I figure it all must be a mental block either way.

I have always rode goofy, Right foot forward, even from childhood skateboarding. But I always nose stab, and attempting to roll to the left. I'm with B/K, I can't even think about how I would do this to the right. Of cours I only ride flatwater, my feet are in both holds when I do this, but I still only can make my self think roll left. IDK?

I think everyone has a favoured way to spin and I don't think it is related to left right handed in any hard and fast way just get a group of people to stand in one spot and jump and spin 180° some go left some go right ask a snowboarding instructor, just do whats comfortable. On another note the engine rotation may actually cancel it self out with the acceleration up the face rotating one direction and then the opposite way when the throttle is released as you get air, think of a dremel sit it on a bench and turn it on it will run off in one direction, when running it will sit still turn it off it takes of in the other direction, could be totally wrong just thinking out loud LOL.
