Did I make a mess with this hood ?

Someone asked me about my hood on another thread so I figured I would show those who might be interested in what I have done so far.

I shaped the foam to what I think is a nice compromise between maximum air space, strength and clearance for any and all pipes. I made sure that all screws and bolts would remain accessible just like with the stock liner.
I also made room for those who have their hood hooks spread wider (using a RN pole bracket) that they can do so without trouble.

It may be hard to see but the foam does have a nice concave shape to it with the centre being much closer to the top of the hood with the sides coming down close to the hood lip.
I also made channels for water run off into the rear corners of the hood.

My next step will be to cover the whole thing with duct tape, smear it all with mold releasing compound and that give it a layer of glass.
Than, I will pop out the glass hopefully without damaging the foam.
I would like to get more than one liner out of this form but have no clue if it will work.

Lookin good Boris. I have to redo my square nose liner also. I probably have the worlds heavyest square nose hood. When you pick it up you have to grunt. I used like a 1/4 to 3/8" thick sheet of already made fiber glass when I did mine.

That's why I hope the foam survives more than one liner.
I should have used modeling clay, easier to work with, cleaner, and stronger.
I have some cloth left over and could make a few extra for those who want one FREE of charge.

I'm treating this as a learning experience so the more I do the better I will get.

Well, I was going to go ride tomorrow (I need a ton of practice with that) but I guess I will work on that hood.

I still have some final sanding to do around the bolt holes to make it purdy and than I'll glass it.

Keep your fingers crossed that I don't ruin the foam, good or bad I will post my results tomorrow.
