Daytona Riding Laws??

Me and a couple friends are planning on going to daytona this summer and id love to bring my 550 and soon to be SJ assuming i have both then. Well im not really sure on floridas laws on riding in the ocean and google and the x searching hasnt helped much. Any locals know the rules?

Also, how much is a rental down there for a few hours? Were going to have 3-4 people atleast with only 2 of my skis.

If you're riding on Daytona beach, a helmet is required. Also, you have to purchase a pass for the month and it's like $35 or so.

there are no rentals on the beach. you can only rent jet skis in the intercoastal waterway. The volusia page has the riding zones and legal requirements. Daytona is the north zone and new smyrna is the south.

It's open everyday in daytona, the zone in New Smyrna is only weekend and holidays


I would not recomend the beach break anyway... Go to Ponce inlet and rent some skis and hit up the inlet w/ them on the 550... You can rent them right next to the boat ramp at the Lighthouse resturant

Thanks for clarifying, the webpage is not clear, it says that under both zones. I read it as: on weekends and holidays it's open 9-5.

It's weird with that list of regulations they don't say closed at sunset, but I guess that's implied.

I had the rangers at Pismo flash their lights at me to tell me to get out as the sun was going down. Time flies when you're having fun.

it closes at 5 no matter what the sun is doing. You have to be off the beach by sunset with your vehicle.

werd... you will need to be out of the water and stuff by about 4:45pm to be clear... they want to leave at 5pm... The beach closes at 30min before sunset.
