Possibly, that will ultimately be up to Dan.
The problem is the internet jockeys that either disbelieve or want to challenge the results. It has always turned into a big war in the past.
Dynos are just another tuning tool, they can be set to read most anything the operator wishes.
Brian
This is easily over come by having dyno meets where every motor builder or motors owner is present and the comparisons are done back to back on the same dyno with no changes made between. dyno runs are camcorded and screen shots are seen by all and posted on the related forums with everyone there at the same time, their is no argument this way...just excuses.
sometimes its hard to get all the builders in the same spot but these motors owners are all over the place.someone brings one of these dynos to daytona or wavedaze and you will have a epic showdown that will be just as big a draw as the raffle or anything else taking place. along with charging everyone else who wants to do a run with their motor to see how it compares with the pro builders. We do this with supras twice a year, once on the west coast and once on the east coast, all the big builders are there, half is provin on the track the other half on the dyno.
Nobody cares about seeing power curves from any testing anyone builder is doing with their own stuff for reasons you listed above, they are pointless to even post, but they are valuable to the builder himself to find subtle changes to pull out that extra few ponies.the only valid excuse any other builder has in the ski industry is that the shop that has the dyno has a advantage because they have one to tune on,while the other is tuning by the seat of their pants.maybe they need to purchase some dyno time.........ehhh
Don....it all starts with hp,everything else is provin on the track, the wave, the bouy.If you can make the power you can make it hook up and with the curve the dyno produces you can prop up or down to move the powerband where you need it easy, assuming the build was purpose built well for the use
it appears the dynos days are finally coming back......
