Hey guys, I have a new dasa 950, Last night i was don't know why but u happened to get a flash light and look down one of the cooling outlets on the top of the block and inside i saw a big peace of shaving at the bottom of the cooling jacket, My wife happen to have very small tweezers and i was able to lean the motor over and pull it out of the water outlet on top.

My main question to you guys is now im worried there could be more crap in the motor and i have never removed the top head of a 2 stroke i was thinking of removing the top to make sure there is nothing els in the motor, Is it very simple to take off or is there any gaskets that could get messed up what do you guys think? Also if i remove the top what would the torch be for the bolts and is there a patter to re-bolting the top?

I dont happen to have a pic of the metal that i took out but ill up load one later tonight.

The head will have o-rings so it can be taken off. contact DASA or a dasa dealer for re-torque spec's. Yes id flush it to be safe so it doesnt end up in your exhaust pipe or stuck in the hoses. Id contact who you bought it from and see what they have to say first off, as id expect that to be taken care of with how much that motors worth.

Its probably a bit of metal shaving from where they tapped the fitting for the brass elbow. Its fairly normal for a AM motor.
The head comes off very easy. no gasket, only oring that you don't need to replace every time. OEM torque specs are 15 then 18 ft*lb but I would call Kyle to confirm.

These motors require frequent inspection and rebuilds, need to get use to doing this frequently

yep. start at the center bolt, move one bolt to the right, then do the same to the bolt on the left of the center. Work your way to the front and rear of the motor at the same time going exhaust side then intake side the same distance from the center.

heres a reference. go over them atleast twice in this pattern. Start at around 15 ftlbs so the head can shift around if it needs to before going to 22ft/lbs.
