Been lurking for a while now, finally found a killer deal on a kawi (keep the comments to yourselves :chairshot:) but im worried about some cracks.

should I be worried? I plan on doing some glass work this winter anyway, but is the location of the cracks going to affect the structural soundness of the hull even after repaired right? can i replace the gas cap and finish the season "as is"

what do you think about the dented aluminum handle pole?

edit* the crack in question is in the first picture just to the right of the "c" in the wiseco sticker"

I'm not familliar with Kawasaki's but it looks repairable. As long as you repair it right I wouldn't worry about it. Truthfully, You could replace the cap and ride it the rest of the season. Just keep an eye on the crack.

Kawi 750's have been known to crack around the pole mount. The dent in the pole is a good indication of why. The whole pole mount flexes when the pole smashes against the stops. If you plan to do some glass work this winter you should be able to beef it up.

Maybe you should consider fabricating up a limiting rope setup to keep the pole from hyperextending and doing further damage.

all of the ones I have seen ( including one I personally owned) showed signs of those cracks.

check around the front corners where the hood rides too, likely starting there.

very easy to patch inside ( invisible) with epoxy resin/glass cloth and will stop it.

also, get a limiting rope.
