Super Jet cylinder ??

got some new cylinders in and noticed the piece that screws in between both cylinders is not on it so will pull the one off my old one and put it on there just wondering what it does and should it be just touching both cylinders do you locktite it??? thanks about to paint the cylinders now then maybe do some hull reinforcing

It's a sacrificial anode and it is supposed to protect the cylinder from corrosion. You'll be give without it.
 
I have no clue if im correct but i would think loctite would be a bad idea on something that is designed to corrode and will beed to be removed and replaced one day possibly.

They must melt away in order to do any good. I have never seen one melted at all, so they arent doing much if anything.
