cutting up the sj pole

ive been considering cutting up my pole. it already has 2in from the bottom. i was wondering if anyone has cut from the top so that it doesnt have the arch in it.

Yes, but you can only take so much off (less then 2" I think) as it gets thicker closer to the bend. Cut it flush and then mic it out to see how far you can cut off.

i think im gonna keep the bend, has anyone ever shortened it from the bottom without taking the pole off and cables out? thats a big pita haha

Do you have a short turn plate? If not it could be interesting. But If you want to go shorter again I think I would take the pole off and take the time to do a real clean and good job.

yea i am bein lazy! ha depending on the weather this week ill prob take it apart and do it right. yes i have a shortened turnplate, i dont wanna spend $800 or whatever it is for a pole that will go on a 750, ill do that when i get an sj.
