Cutting down a Squarenose AC racing pole

Is it worth doing, or should I just try buying another aluminum pole that is already shorter than stock?

Can someone recommend how much I should get it cut down? A friend of the family is a very good welder, so I am thinking I can probably get it cut and rewelded where needed for around 50 bucks or so.

I want to do the same to mine. I also would like to her some answers to that question. Also where would be the ideal spot to cut

Is shouldn't really matter. I am planning on having mine cut as close to the bracket as I can get it.

My friend cut 3 inches out of his AC pole and now the thing hits the hood and doesn't go all the way down.
The length is right for him but the hood should be modded.

I personally like the RN pole on a SN better but my next one will be an x-metal.
