Not really, some flat water guys say it helps, but thats not what it was created for. The ride plate pushes the nose of the ski down, or helps keep the nose down. Originally for surf ridding, the plates are cut so the tail of the ski "sinks" when ridding the face of a wave. When ridding a wave face, you don't want the nose to catch and pearl.(Usually the ski goes straight down till you hit the bottom)Patm1987 said:does it really help u out with barrel rolls and back flips????
